The 50 State Afterschool Network, funded by the Mott Foundation, has access to more than 10 million youth and 100,000 afterschool programs across the country. 

By meeting K–12 students where they 

are in their developmental stage, afterschool programs help students move through their own personalized career readiness roadmap, moving from career awareness to career exploration to career preparation, and, finally, to career training  

Afterschool STEM engages students in hands-on, real-world projects that offer innovative ways to practice STEM skills in an informal space. This makes STEM more accessible, more interesting, and helps build fluency, much like immersing oneself in a new language 

 Talks with guest speakers have the potential to act on aspirations, self-efficacy, resilience and attitudes towards expectations, as well as directly informing life, education and career pathway choices.
